Saying Alba Huerta is passionate about making cocktails would just scratch the surface of how she feels about her profession. Alba has been bartending for a decade but has been mixing cocktails for only the last two. Her direction behind the bar has become intensely focused and driven as she has become more infatuated with the history of cocktails. She feels it is a part of Americana and enjoys being in such a great community.
After a long process of getting Houston bartenders together and getting approval, Alba was an instrumental part in starting a Houston chapter of the US Bartenders’ Guild and is now the Vice President. Not only does she enjoy getting together with local bartenders, Alba travels all over to meet and exchange ideas with other mixologists. She visits Rumfest, Tales of the Cocktail, Portland Cocktail Week and Tales of the Cocktail Vancouver among others. She gets inspiration and ideas from these trips and creates new drinks daily at Grand Prize Bar in the museum district. Try one of her many signature cocktails or tell her what you like and see where she takes you.
