Bartender of the Month Joseph Le
Sushi restaurants tend to be overlooked when you’re in the mood for a great cocktail, but don’t let yourself visit AKA Sushi House and simply stick with sake. Stop by the bar and meet Joseph Le and see what he’s cooking. Joseph is a rare find as far as bartenders go. His neo-classic, molecular mixology with an Asian twist helps him create cocktails that can compliment sushi and keep you coming back for more. After studying at Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and having a paper published, he really understands the ins and outs of hospitality. This training and his knowledge behind the bar could make him a cocktail snob, but his style is to listen to what people at his bar want and make it for them.
Make sure to try his Miso Bloody Mary made with Absolut Peppar, shochu, Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix, miso base, Japanese peppers, scallions, lime and a pinch of wasabi served in a tall glass rimmed with seaweed sea salt. He also mixes up a mean Tokyo Manhattan with Zen Green Tea Liqueur for a twist. Ask him for one of his novelty shots like Pop Art, made with pop rocks and Three Olives Vodka. Stop in and see Joseph and have him create your own specialty drink.
